Taking the lead is never easy. Sometimes it’s a choice or even a pursuit. Often, though, it’s a position or responsibility that has been thrown upon people as a product of particular time or circumstance or because of who they are and what they do represent. To be at the Vanguard of the field, of a movement, of a moment is well much more than leadership in the traditional sense. Is it about the way we certain individuals live or embody something we have never seen before. It’s about the willingness to be the first and venture into the unchartered waters of the unknown. It’s about their conviction, tenacity in the face of backlash or resistance and their drive and determination to break boundaries and create new parody and possibilities. It’s about resilience and resolve, vision, and ambition, but perhaps crucially it’s about the way they inspire us to embrace who we are and everything we have to offer to take the lead ourselves. The people who are truly at the forefront of those who pushed the culture For really do it alone. They all bring all of us along with them.
