Grace

We shouldn’t expect to be good at anything on day one.

It’s a good reminder when trying something new, but also a metaphor for life:  to give yourself grace. To allow the awkwardness. To know that it will feel uncomfortable at first, maybe for a long time. Whether it’s your life journey or learning something new, the experience is going to be imperfect. You’re going to make mistakes. It’s going to take time to get better, to achieve a level that makes you feel like you have done or accomplished something meaningful. Don’t let your mind bully you into believing  “you should better by now” or “you need to be doing more, more, more.”  Accept where you are. Embrace the discomfort. Find others who inspire and support you every step of the way. Most of all, be kind to yourself. Enjoy the journey and embrace it all. Life is short.
