Wine is a great idea, as it can be shared or saved for later. I often give flowers, but also have taken to sending my host a photo of the event I attended. I have found this to be well received, and often doubles as a thank you note.
Great topic! IMO, it depends on the occasion. Wine for a dinner, plus flowers if a holiday or party. If staying as a house guest — something I no longer do, as we’d rather be in a hotel — I’d add some luxurious soap (e.g., Claus Porto), candle (e.g., Diptyque), or chocolate (e.g., Teuscher truffles).
Personally, I always love getting flowers, especially if they are sent beforehand so I don’t have to scramble for a vase while entertaining! Alisa
I too agree it depends on the occasion. I enjoy giving and receiving flowers. Albeit if I ever get the opportunity to attend parties again, I think I will gift hand soap (e.g. Nest) as we all should have clean hands, and keep germs at bay.
I always just bring wine, I would love more ideas!
