I have twice contacted my congressional representatives and received no firm response. We have agreed to end this crazy semiannual time change ritual in favor of permanent daylight saving time. When will we get action? Software providers for everything from computers to cellphones to automobile navigation systems will have to be reprogrammed not to change all our digital clocks, which will take time. Let’s get on with it! – Alan Brockmeier, Mercer Island

UGH! I hate this time of the year. It’s like summer is officially over. That saddens me!

Summer is a beautiful season, but each season has something to offer us if we are open to embracing change. Thank you for reading.

This does seem like an archaic ritual that has outgrown its original purpose. In the Pacific Northwest, where I live, sunrise will be at 6AM instead of 7AM so still dark for school kids, and it will get dark at 5PM instead of 6PM, no advantage for workers who will be driving in the dark.
