When I’m sitting in the restaurant waiting for you and get a text that you can’t make it, LOL.

Serious answer: It depends on the plans. If I’m hosting a dinner party, I need to know at least two days in advance — before I’ve done all the shopping. If we’re meeting for lunch or coffee, one day is ok if there is a legitimate emergency or reason for cancelling. ”I forgot” is NOT a good reason!

“I forgot” is never a good excuse. I agree two days is good etiquette if I am hosting a dinner party, and I am okay with a two-hour cancellation day of connecting, if the excuse is valid because life does happen.

  2. Hmmmm, I’m not sure but I’ll tell you something that happen to me last year. I had RSVP’d for an engagement party. Two weeks before I messaged and said I wouldn’t be able to make it. Two days before I said I’d try to make it b/c they said they really wanted me there. After getting off work, I was tired and looked a hot mess, I just didn’t want to go to such an event looking like that. The person said okay No Problem! I told them to send me pictures. They never did. There mother end up sending them to me. I never heard from the person until the bridal shower was being put together. I told the person that I didn’t want to RSVP because I know in May I’ll be studying for NCLEX and didn’t want to feel bad again for not showing up after I RSVP’d. I hate canceling I honestly do. But sometimes life happens and you have to cancel. Falling out with a person over something like that to me is crazy! Especially if you’ve not paid $200 or some pretty penny for a plate!
