Source the fridge, if possible, add only chilled drinks and snacks. This simple step will prolong the life of your ice.
Organize items by meal or type, and use layers of ice or ice packs, placing frozen items near the ice. Ensure everything is in waterproof containers to prevent sogginess and keep raw and cooked foods separate. Add a menu: Keep a list of cooler contents in a resealable bag on the outside of the lid so folks will know their options before they open it. — Minimize air space and keep the cooler closed as much as possible to maximize ice retention.
