Six-Word Memoirs

Okay, I may be very late to this project, but I just found this article in my bin and I love the idea. To those of you not who are not familiar with the six-word memoir, it was founded January 6, 2006 by Larry Smith and Tim Barko. They took a cue from novelist Ernest Hemingway, who, according to literary legend, was once challenged to write a short story in only six words. Smith’s editors, Larry Smith and Rachel Fershleiser, gave the six-word story a personal twist, asking Smith readers to tell their life story in just six-words. I love the memoirs below and ask what would your memoir be?

  • If you can’t stay smile as you walk by
  • Forever entertained by the universe’s humor
  • I refused to be a victim…
  • You are worthy because you are born
  • Failing gracefully. Hoping there’s a mattress!
  • Use it up, wear it out, and make it do, or do without
  • I’ve made all the best mistakes
  • Every problem has a creative solution
  • Old too soon. Smart too late
  • Recipe for failure. Changed my ingredients
  • I have time to fix this.
  • I am all about the ocean
  • I want it to be good
  • Did everything except be young
  • Only thing stopping me is me
  • I am definitely in my zone
  • Seeking the fullest expression of self
  • Made mistakes. Learned lots. Made more.
  • Leave a trail , never look back
  • The truth will fear no questions
  • Stumbling into everything falling into grace
  • Let the universe handle the details
  • Forgiving and ease- stunningly elusive creatures
  • Motto and blood type : Be positive
  • Try harder. Be better .Love more.
  • Life gives lemons but no juicer
  • Flaws build character, not short comings
  • Car jacked in the tunnel of love
  • The good child until I wasn’t
  • Mission accomplished – but will consider reincarnation

Reblogged this on e-Quips and commented:
Could you sum up your life (or anyone else’s) in only 6 words? Give it a try. You will rapidly find you distill priorities to the precious few.

So far the response has been favorable. No one has shared their results with me yet. 😉
