Human Connection – Date While you Wait

I first heard of Thomas C. Knox’, concept awhile back on some morning show. Then I read about it one morning, and thought it was a great idea. The concept is to give people the opportunity to do something other than be on a mobile device and have great interactions while playing games like Connect Four or Clue while they waited on public transportation. The idea sounded like something I would partake in. I often start my commute with my paper’s crosswords puzzle, and I have lost track over the years of how many strangers have stood next to me and pointed out words or simply said something along the lines of “It’s nice to see someone not stuck with their face in a phone.” So, yes, I could see myself playing a game or standing behind a stranger and coaching them. I also like how Knox is taking his project one step further by teaching a workshop at high schools and universities on the importance of “human connection” and how to “develop an idea from the ground up.” I do, however, wonder if the title “Date While You Wait” deters people from interacting. Perhaps it could be titled “Playing While You Wait.”

I agree: the name is confusing. Sounds like people casually dating while waiting to meet Mr/Ms Right.
