Get rid of any not needed items. Use small plastic containers to group similar items together. Put away anything that belongs elsewhere.

I have a habit of storing paperwork, old receipts etc in the top drawer of my bedside cabinet. Every few months I clean it out, most of it gets disposed of.

Sounds like you found a routine that works for you. We clean out our kitchen junk drawer when ever its to stuffed to close…lol

The routine is to clean out the draw when the papers start catching when opening and shutting the drawer 😂

I use small plastic sandwich bags in a similar manner so I can see what’s there. Sadly, that junk just has a mind of its own and breeds like rabbits.
