A Narrative

I asked Weaver how she herself communicates when words won’t do; is it something she transmits through her work? Yes, I do think that’s a response I have to many situations in the world – that perhaps stories can illuminate things that will be helpful and enlightening to people, she reflects. ‘I believe in the power of stories to make you feel you’re not alone and that you can do this. That’s very much our story – that women care for each other, their friendship with each other and their fight for each other’s protection can help them overcome tragedy, move on, and heal.

  1. I became a single parent of our 14 month old son when my first wife died. How could I communicate with him when he had no words? Each night when I tucked him into bed I told him a story involving similar circumstances. About a year later he responded with “Why did my Mummy die?”
