Trust No One

The secret to avoiding scams is to not trust anyone. Whoever calls you, tell them you have to call back. Look up the real number and explain exactly what just happened.

If they are from the IRS, ask what your social security number is.

If they say your power is about to be cut off, tell them you’re going to call up your local office.

If they say that they’re going to make you rich, say thank you and block them.

Literally trust no one!
