Connecting with Fellow Writers

“Writing is such a lonely task, it’s really important for us to find kindred spirits who share our love of books and understand the difficulties of the craft.

“I have spent years building up a writing community by going along to as many literary events as I can, supporting other writers by buying their books and sharing my thoughts online, reviewing for newspapers, magazines and blogs, and by sharing my passion for everything bookish on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

“I also amplify other writers’ voices as much as I can by sharing their posts & their book covers. As a result, I have the most wonderful network of friends and colleagues (some of whom I’ve never met in person!)”

  1. I’ve always wanted to find a productive FREE writing group! I’ve written my book but would love to have other eyes on it. I’d also like someone to help me find some journal pages perhaps on Etsy or any other means to place at the end of each chapter! And then I’d love to run it through Claude or GPT to enhance it a little but still keep my voice!

I also would love to find a writing group that offers constructive feedback and inspiration, and I’m sure one must exist! Since this is my ‘summer of writing and reflecting,’ I’ve been reading two books you might love: The Book of Alchemy by Suleika Jaouad, which features 100 inspiring writing prompts, and Living Proof: Telling Your Story to Make a Difference by John Capecci and Timothy Cage, which is great for helping you craft your story and find your audience.❤ —Thanks for taking the time to read, and comment.

      • We spoke about reading for law school in our class on yesterday! I have no time to read b/c I feel like if I’m reading I can be drilling! At this age, I’d think my vocabulary would be stronger but….The LSAT teaches me daily that I dropped the ball somewhere on vocab. lol!

A fantastic solution to this is a word-of-the-day calendar. I kept one for years and would challenge myself to use the new word in a sentence throughout the day. While I know there are apps that offer this, I’m simply not a tech-app person. Also, please remember that reading for fun is a wonderful form of self-care.

      • I try to do that too….I started a LSAT group over 50 and I post a word a day and try to use it. But I’m also not around people that use words outside of medical terms either! My life is so limited and structured a now! It’s just for a season.
