Practice asking, even when you’re afraid of the answer. Start small. Ask for help with something low-stakes. Express a need. Speak up about what’s bothering you. The goal isn’t to get a “yes” every time—it’s to prove to yourself that you can survive hearing “no.” Each time you ask, and the relationship doesn’t end, you’re retraining your nervous system.
