I have a confession: I like to glance into other peoples’ grocery carts, particularly at Costco and the farmer’s market. Today I learned I am not alone in this. The gentleman next to me smiled and asked, “You going use those berries today?” I informed him I didn’t know, but I thought $1.50 was a great deal. He chuckled “Yeah, but if you’re using them tonight, they have them in the bargain bin for 50 cents”. I thanked him, put back the “expensive” berries and marched myself over to the bargain bin. I snapped up not only strawberries, but two donut peaches in a clam shell for 69 cents. Cheers to the bargain bin!
- about 5-6 fresh strawberries
- 4-5 fresh mint leaves
- Juice from one fresh lime
- 3 ounces vodka
- 3-4 ounces ginger ale
Methodology: Muddle together strawberries, lime, vodka and mint in a shaker. Fill the glass with ice, pour in drink and top off with ginger ale.

Yummy! I want some!!
