I am happily working my way through my flavored moscato- you can read about them here , and here. Next up was Black Cherry Moscato. It definitely tasted like black cherry (not my favorite) and those on my patio told anecdotes of how it reminded them of Kool-Aid packets in particular powder candy. A friend explained just about every kid in her class would pour sugar into a sandwich bag and shake up a Kool-Aid packet in it. She continued by saying kids would walk around her, licking candy out their hand. She loved the wine based on her memory alone. I wouldn’t order this flavor again, as I never been a huge fan of Kool-Aid or black cherries. Have you tried this wine? Do you have a favorite black cherry wine I should try? In the spirit of this challenge, I have turned this fruit into a cocktail. Please let me know what you think! Cheers!
- bushel of fresh cherries
- 4-5 fresh mint leaves
- Juice from one fresh lime
- 3 ounces rum
- 3-4 ounces ginger ale
Methodology: remove pit from cherries, puree in blender, strain cherries in cheese cloth for juice. Muddle together cherry juice, lime, vodka, and mint in a shaker. Fill the glass with ice, pour in drink and top off with ginger ale.
*You could save yourself sometime and just buy good cherry juice. When I shared this recipe with Abby She also said, “you also could buy frozen cherries and thaw them, they are already pitted and a) cheaper b) available when cherries aren’t in season.
