During these hot summer months Charcuterie will be in heavy rotation. I first learned of it over a decade ago when I met my spouse. I recall our first encounter. I asked him “What did you eat today?” (I never ask one what they do, as one shouldn’t be defined by their job.) You can learn a lot about someone from such a simply question. His reply was charcuterie. I had no clue what the hell charcuterie was. I asked him to explain. He replied, “Come over, I’ll make you one.” Let me tell you charcuterie is nothing but a beautiful snack plate. The key ingredients are cheese, bread and crackers, fruit and nuts, pickles, olives, and dips. How do you not like a person who enjoys snacks, who doesn’t toot their own horn about being a chef, and is able to make anything?
Though today, I made charcuterie. Bon Appétit.
- Swiss cheese
- Fuji apple
- Trader Joe’s Italian Trio
- 1 roma tomato
- Grey Poupon mustard
- Milton’s Garlic and Herb Crackers
- Lindt Sea Salt Chocolate
- Traders Joe’s white bean hummus
- Cucumber
- Pistachios
Preparation: Slice cheeses, wash and dry fruit. Place small bowls on your board and fill with dips, olives, or any wet ingredients. Place meats, cheeses, and crackers around the board. Finally add in the fruit and chocolate.

Yup they are a regular thing for me as I’d rather snack than have a meal!

I haven’t seen it before. But now that you brought it to my attention I’ll keep an eye out for it.
