Good Excuses for Missing Work

Positively purging I read the headline “Why I am late to work” my first thought was “Who are these people? How do you just forget you had to go to work, and couldn’t you come up with a better excuse?” Well, life has a way of humbling us. I recalled last summer I was one of those people and my lame excuse was “I thought I was off.” So, I went strolling through the farmer’s market, came home and made myself a smoothie, and then posted the recipe while spending time in my garden. Have you ever forgotten about work? What’s the best work excuse you ever  given? If you need one, check out these.

• I put petroleum jelly in my eyes.
• I had to watch a soccer game that was being played in Europe.
• I thought Flag Day was a legal holiday.
• I overslept because my kids changed all the clocks in the house.

• The sunrise was so beautiful that I had to stop and take it in.
• My mother-in-law wouldn’t stop talking.
• My dad offered to make me a grilled cheese sandwich, and I couldn’t say no.

• I was cornered by a moose.
• My mother locked me in the closet.
• The pizza I ordered was late being delivered, and I had to be home to accept/pay for it.

  1. I was late for my first day on my Social Work Course. This was my excuse: My wife was very ill, so I got the doctor in. He diagnosed meningitis. She was taken to hospital. I got our 5 year old to a neighbour to take him to school, then drove across London to take our nine-month old to my mother-in-law. I missed the introductory morning.
