Little Free Pantry

At the beginning of January, someone vandalized LFP at Mt. Olive . Only a few days later, stewards had it repaired and running!

The headline read “Little Free Pantry“. Something about the idea reminded me of past posts Dispensing Tales, Human Connection – Date While you Wait, and Tiny Mailboxes. All these posts have the element of human interaction and kindness, proving kindness still exists in the world. The Little Pantry is set up a lot like the little free neighborhood libraries that have popped up around the country over the years. Here’s how it works: you place extra (unexpired) goods in the pantry and your neighbors take what they need without feeling shame, embarrassment, or judgment. I love this idea. The only thing I would add is a little slot or envelope for coupons because every cent does count. Does anyone have one of these in their community? How is it working? Would you welcome one in your community?
