Wherever You Go There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn (1994, nonfiction 275 pages). He’s quite well-known within the mindfulness world, as both the developer of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and a founding director of the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In sharing that, I feel like I should give a disclaimer, albeit not necessarily, as the Real Life of an MSW is not a clinical platform. My disclaimer is I am on a beautiful journey to become certified in mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and I am well acquainted with the works of Jon Kabat-Zinn. This is a peaceful reading, a book to keep and reread. I found myself reading, journaling, breathing, and meditating. The author maps out a simple path for cultivating mindfulness in one’s own life. The book speaks of coming to meditation for the first time and to long time practitioners, anyone who cares deeply about reclaiming the richness of his or her moments. It is an excellent guide to daily meditation and to living the daily moments of our lives with awareness. To just be open meditation is… not straining after perfect posture or perfect focus. Meditation is a gentle awareness of the body and its dignity, an acceptance and awareness of the passage of thoughts and the ephemeral nature of these thoughts, to understand that you relate to the whole, to minimize harm and cultivate generosity, love and patience, and to accept whatever is coming.
I’ve read that book. I use to practice mediation.

I genuinely enjoyed the book, and my journey to becoming an MBSR instructor. I have learned many individuals require new information, inspiration, or simply a break in which to rest and refresh their spirit.
