Designing a Bookcase

Design in thirds for a balanced look, fill to thirds of each shelf with books. Then add bookends, framed pictures, and other personal items like objects from your travels in the remaining space.

Switch the sight line mixing horizontal stacks and books standing vertically. “Think about the story being told across bookshelves as a dance that draws your eye to different places.

  1. I wanted a built in bookcase in my living room and I’ve always wanted a computer desk area in my kitchen. I’ve since said I’d also like a larger laundry room next go round. Something that has a sink in it and enough room to actually iron in it. Although I don’t iron.
