Outdoor Maintenance Tasks

Check your front door. Doors leading to the outside can be a key source of energy loss.

Maintain your roof. Roof maintenance is a critical part of ensuring your home is free of leaks and potential damage. Biannual or annual check-ups can go a long way towards keeping your home in good condition.

Tree Maintenance. Dead trees can be a recipe for disaster, especially during a heavy storm. Removing dead trees and branches is a great way to maintain your home.

Monitor your HVAC system. A recommendation is a twice-a-year checkup as you change your system between heating and air conditioning.

Refill driveways. Your driveway undergoes continuous heavy-duty usage. Repaving or adding fresh gravel can help to prevent potential accidents or damage.

Evaluate lighting. Pathways and entries should be well lit.

Check water connections. From your garden hose to outdoor kitchen faucets, ensure connections are tight and secure.

Power Wash. Power washing decks and the exterior of your home can help to make it feel renewed and refreshed.

Maintain landscaping. From pruning to mulching, proper maintenance can help to preserve the investment you have made to beautify your home.

Do an energy assessment. Making sure seals are tight around windows and doors as well as proper insulation of your home, can help save you money on heating and cooling your home.

  1. I love all this. I recently had my front and back doors resealed. I think what I need outside of a good paint job is new windows.

I hope you find a reputable company to paint your home and replace your windows. I have done both and am happy with the work. My best advice is take your time, paint 2 feet wide paint swatches on each side of your home, as the color does look different from different angles, and throughout the day. Also, don’t let someone tell you all your windows need to be replaced; an energy audit will give you a good perspective on which ones are pertinent.

      • I have someone coming Monday to do my winter checks! As far as painting, it’ll be a moment. I don’t wore a half done job and I won’t have the money till after I’m done with school and go back and work full time. Silly me has spent too much to not have worked full time since 2019. Jesus has been faithful towards me. Every thing I need I have. My wants will come later. And if not I’ll be grateful anyways! 2024, is all new perspective.
