Nature

“Just living isn’t enough,” said the butterfly. One must also have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. – Hans Christian Andersen

RANT AND RAVE

RANT AND RAVE Rave to our neighbor for using the warm weather to air dry their laundry. Rant to them for hanging it so close to our house. We are also thrilled to have the warm weather to enjoy and don’t want to be looking at your underwear. Either move it to a different location in your yard or inside your home.

RANT AND RAVE Rant to the inescapably loud music from boats on Andrews Bay. Rave to partyers who keep their boats beyond the buoys and their music at a level that allows everyone to enjoy our beautiful natural spaces surrounding Seward Park.

RANT AND RAVE Rave to my friend for telling me about shoe lifts which are available online. Rant to the medical providers who never told me about these and prescribed a walking boot that is 3 inches taller than my noninjured foot. I challenge each of you to spend one hour with a 3-inch height discrepancy!

RANT AND RAVE Rave to the U.S. Postal Service for providing an easy way to contribute to the local food banks. The USPS distributes blue bags for their May food drive. All one has to do is put a couple nonperishable food items in the bag and place it by their mailbox on the second Saturday in May. Easy, right? Rant to how few people participate. On my morning walk, I counted only six blue bags, and this was in a neighborhood where homes sell for over a million dollars. Come on Seattle, show your generosity!

Solo Traveler

I wanted to see if freedom felt better than money…I quit my job and bought a on way ticket to Bangkok to see if freedom felt better than money. I started out with a small amount of savings, hitchhiking, eating street food, and staying in shared dorms, all the while hoping that my travel blog might take off… Kristin Addis
