Excerpt from a Career Journal: Expect It!

“We discover who we are not by wrestling with our circumstances, but by listening to God’s guidance. Work clarifies and enhances our purpose. It does not define it. Prayer defines our purpose. Meditation crystalizes it. Stillness shows us how to do it.”

My mantra for practicum is “Expect It!”  If I want something, I need to ask for it. This is a learning experience that I am paying for it.  Throughout this practicum I will:

  • Keep Boundaries – I am NOT your friend, I am your therapist
  • Find balance school/internship/work
  • Stay clear of transference / counter transference “No one is you, and no one can tell your story albeit they may be some similarities, between theirs and yours…”

“If I want something I need to ask for it.” Words of truth. Something I absolutely no I need to get better at. If we don’t ask, the answer is already no!
