How to Soothe Through Anxiety

whether it’s laying on the ground, stretching to move your focus away from your thoughts and into the body, breathwork or a self-massage, figure out what body activities help you feel at peace and access those tools when you begin to feel anxiety surfacing.use your environment ,tuning into our environment can be so helpful to ground us. maybe it’s walking outside in nature, putting on headphones and listening to a relaxing or nostalgic song, looking at an old video on your camera roll that brings you joy, calling someone who is great at talking you through an anxious moment, or painting to refocus your mind on something artistic and meticulous.focus on pleasant memories / things you are looking forward tothis one is a personal favorite. when feelings of intense anxiety are either beginning to surface or grow stronger, close your eyes and think of something you’re looking forward to in the near future. maybe it’s simply the weekend, or maybe it’s an upcoming trip to see family. when you do this, visualize the entire experience. what am i wearing in this vision of the future? who am i seeing? where is this taking place? painting this mental picture often conjures up feelings of excitement and happiness  that can help regulate the anxious feelings that can consume you.
