Art is our one true global language. It knows no nation. It favors no race. It acknowledges no class. It speaks to our need to heal, reveal and transform. It transcends our ordinary lives and lets us imagine what is possible. – Richard Kamler
Positively Purging-I welcome your feedbacks in the comments and your likes and passing the real life wisdom on to others as I embark on this new venture of “positively purging“, as I know each of these pieces represents something…
Life’s beautiful chaos is such a metaphor for so many things. We can prepare and that does make life easier but we never know what will transpire when we get into the “arena” of life.

In my college apartments, I loathed the weekly chore swap. I would often lose track of which task I had been assigned — or forget to do it all together. Chore charts are often the default division of labor in shared spaces, but they don’t necessarily make the most sense. Cleaning is a habit, and you’re more likely to remember to do the same task you’ve been doing for weeks or months.
Taking on a set responsibility also encourages a stronger sense of ownership. If a job around the kitchen isn’t getting done, it makes it easier to sit down and discuss why that is and what can be done to remedy the situation.
Shame on It All (2003 – Fiction – 320 pages) by Zaneis an adult novel (read: erotica). The story’s main characters are Harmony, Bryce, and Lucinda (a.k.a. Lucky) Whitfield, who are sisters in every sense of the word. They argue and get on each other’s nerves, but when it comes down to showing up, they not only show up but show out. The book is more of a drama than erotic fiction as it follows their adventures, friendships, and love lives. However, this is no Waiting to Exhale, Girlfriends, or Sex in The City. The book just lacks the good cohesive drama and character-building that I adore. If you are looking for drama, great characters, and erotica, I strongly suggest you check out Carol Taylor’s Brown Sugar series.
Be open and clear about your intentions. my best friend and i have been intentionally open about what is important to us in a friendship. she knows that i value friendships that celebrate wins and i know that she values friends that go on adventures with her as a form of quality time. by being clear about how important these things were to each other, we were able to cultivate a friendship that not only met our needs, but exceeded each other’s expectations.
Be present. we are living in a world full of distractions. when you leave yourself vulnerable todistractions while engaging in your relationships, you can prevent yourself from fostering meaningful, valuable, and genuine connections. whether it’s intentionally putting your phone away when you’re eating dinner with a parent, pausing your tv show when someone you love gives you a call, or spending time with your loved ones without trying to multi-task, fully focusing your energy on the person in front of you will have nothing but profound effects on the quality of your relationships.
Align your actions to your words. it’s easy to say “i love you”, but loving with our actions, behaviors, choices, and compromises takes our love to another level. if your intention in love is to be a source of encouragement and support, how can you act on this intention versus simply saying “i support you?” this doesn’t mean our words are meaningless, but when our actions aren’t aligning with our words – we are not truly honoring the relationships in our lives.
Foster connection. get creative about fostering opportunities for deeper connection with your loved ones. in her actions, my mom has shown me that the greatest gift you can give a loved one is often an experience. plan a trip, picnic, weekly phone, dinner, day-date, etc. to tend to your relationships and create lasting memories. it doesn’t have to mean spending a lot of money.
Practice relational gratitude – regularly. in a this fast-paced world, it’s easy to take the people in our lives for granted. regularly reflecting on the relationships in your life, and taking action to express your relational gratitude, can help you stay connected to them even when life gets busy.
