Slow Progress Allows Me The Flexibility to Adapt

Slow progress allows me the flexibility to adapt: Many times we want to just be at the destination, but one of the benefits of slower, steady progression is that it allows us to tweak our methods and remember to enjoy the “journey” as we go. That is important too. Remember, the “journey” in between our milestones makes up most of our lives.

The Best Gift You Can Give Yourself

I recently heard Bishop T.D. Jakes say that if you feel like you are going to have a tough holiday, consider breaking with tradition. Do something new and fresh—go on a vacation, volunteer at a soup kitchen. Get ahead of the pain so you don’t get lost in the past. So, I’d say that if you are feeling down or that everyone else is out there having the fa-la-la good time, make a decision to give someone a major act of kindness. It doesn’t have to be a lot of money, but it will require your time, presence and essence. I am telling you, this will be the biggest gift you can give to yourself. – Oprah

26-Word Sentences That Use Every Letter in the Alphabet

Challenge: Can you create a sentence of 26 words that each start with a different letter of the alphabet? About 2,000 of you responded, and the entries ranged from somewhat reasonable to downright hilarious. Interestingly, I believe that each one was unique! Following are the entries I judged best.

“After kindly chauffeuring my generally very jovial father to our nice, quiet regional hospital, X-rays were scheduled, possibly because drinking eight zombies likely upsets your intestines.”

–Ken Kaplan, Parsippany, New Jersey

“Presumably, very early last year, in great haste, a clandestine rag- tag xylophone septet quietly discussed joining forces with known members of the new undercover zither band.”

–Leslie O’Kelly, East Hampton, Connecticut

“Our library is supposed to be a very quiet zone for everyone, however, unfortunately, your nutty kids just played xylophones with cacophonous results, disturbing me greatly.”
