Beautiful Outline

What was once a vague outline is now a place I have smelled and touched.

Connect with the Earth

Go outside and plant your feet into the earth. A patch of grass or soil right outside your door or head to your local park. Take a moment to share a few words of gratitude aloud.

Idea

My really big idea have all begun with a few basic questions: Where is the discovery headed? What should exist but doesn’t yet?

Compassion In The World

There’s a tribe in Africa that believes every person is born good. When someone does something hurtful and wrong in the community, they take the person to the center of the village, and the entire tribe comes and surrounds him. Each person tells the man every good thing they can remember about him from the time he was born. Because they believe he’s just forgotten.”

Liam dropped his head to his chest. I knew tears were falling.  Tears welled in my eyes too…Our culture doesn’t hold that practice, so we have to remind ourselves about all our good qualities on our own.”

I had given the officer a journal and two yellow golf pencils, and he unlocked the door on Liam’s side and handed those to him now. I said to Liam, “This week, list all your good qualities in your journal. Fill pages.” I assigned this to many inmates and never tired of seeing a man’s face light up the following week when he reported his discoveries. – Tuesdays in Jail

Good & Slow

To savor is to go slow. Being willing to soften so we can soak it all in, refusing to rush by the sweetness of a moment, a look, a word, a memory – that is how we find the honey in the hollows of life. Sweet to the taste, balm for the soul, waiting just beyond – or even in the midst of -life inevitable stings. These stories show us how to relish goodness, no matter what form it takes. To catch it as it passes. Reel it in. Let it linger. Let it remind us of what it means to really live.
