A potential escape or romantic adventure will be appealing, just don’t let the others continual talk about cost spoil it. You don’t want to end up in the red, but you shouldn’t have to remain in one place either. – Rid yourself of emotional clutter bring contentment
Positively Purging-I welcome your feedbacks in the comments and your likes and passing the real life wisdom on to others as I embark on this new venture of “positively purging”, as I know each of these pieces represents something…
I love that I can change my hair often. – Madeline Fall
It lifts me up, but its just one part of me – Diarra Fall
So I cut it off. Doing so liberated my mind from the bounds that society has placed on Black beauty and how that reflected onto me. Now I’m starting over from the roots, taking care of it, and thinking about what I want to do with it. I was never experimental, but now I’m excited to try wigs and braids and twists. Black hair is absolutely incredible. And mine represents my ever-evolving self @olivia_anakwe
The first thing people see is my external look, but I can hit them with words and actions right away to shift the perception of what I’m bringing to the world. I’m still a badass, powerful person, even if my hair doesn’t convey it. As I’ve aged, I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter what I’m wearing or what my hair is doing because I already see myself clearly and feel myself intensely. Knowing yourself so well is one great thing no one tells you about getting older. Aging is great.”
“I’m so grateful for my group of friends because they’re such unique individuals. We have this bond — we lean on one another, and we’re inspired by one another. Whenever I’m stressed, I’ll tell one of them and they’ll say, ‘I’m coming over,’ and we’ll talk it out. That’s so important. Much of the time, when people are dealing with stress or mental health issues or depression, it’s easy to keep it all inside. But that’s the most destructive thing you can do. Having a community is my stress relief.”
Keep Your Door (and Mind) Open
“My house has a revolving door. Even when I’m not home, I love having my friends over and knowing that they’re hanging out by the pool and enjoying it. I always say that my household supports all forms of expression and creativity. It makes me very happy to have a home that’s a safe space for my friends.”
My definition of a mental-health day isevery day. I don’t like the idea that a mental-health day has to stick out among all the other days of the year.
On a good day, I deal with rejection by brushing it off; on a bad day, I deal with rejection by getting in my own head.
The not-so-great coping mechanism I had to abandon iscrying. Good crying is a great release; sad crying—I actually have to put a time limit on myself. I feel a lot.
If I’m stressed before bed, Ivent to my husband because I don’t want those thoughts or feelings seeping into my dreams or nightmares; if I’m stressed when I wake up, I meditate.
The one person I know I can always be myself with is my dog. There’s no judgment, just love.
I feel the most confident whenI’ve put on lipstick.
When negative self-talk is filling my head, I reset by reading the news because it’s always going to be worse than what’s in my head.
The best piece of advice my therapist has given me is “Do something nice today and don’t get caught.”
My mental-health mantra is“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Eleanor Roosevelt said that, and I might get it tattooed on my lower back; you never know.
While you may want to take care of vulnerable individuals, don’t encourage total dependency. Explain that you can help, but you also must keep an eye on other areas your deeply committed to.
Lucky day the 20th a Suprise message heralds a change of fortune.
