Derrick, I see your points as clinicians we should be caring for, tending to, and responsibly guiding other beings who are struggling. At the same time, we need to teach future clinicians not to internalize others’ struggle or assume them as their own. I like to think of it as a lesson of mindfulness – “being aware of your awareness and paying attention to your intention.”
