“Failing to greet or thank the host is a quick way to appear ungracious,” says Vivian Otabor, executive director of Etiquette Global Academy. “Always show appreciation for their efforts, and offer a compliment and smile to show gratitude for being invited.” Even if you’re a plus-one or one of many guests, be sure to at least acknowledge the person who has put together the event. If a party is co-hosted, this goes for the other hosts as well.
We don’t recognize our own powers as women. We organically lead in our communities, we lead in our church, we lead in our workplace, we lead in our families. Too often we look to other people to lead in a very public way. Don’t be afraid to fail. You’re already leading. –Keisha Lance Bottoms

“I believe that an experience makes a better gift than material objects. When I think of the best gifts I’ve been given, they have been experiences that changed my life. My friend gifted me a flight, which led to my being able to overcome fear. It was truly incredible and unforgettable.” – Dr. Cecilia Aragon,

The beauty of uncertainty is infinite possibility. When you don’t know what’s next, you don’t know what’s next—which means anything can be next! I think when you think you know what’s next, you’re in tunnel vision. You’ll see what’s in the realm of what you think should be next. When you’re uncertain, you open yourself up to opportunities you may have otherwise not seen as opportunities.Tunde Oyeneyin

Dear God, in a world where it’s easy to sink into darkness and despair, give me the hope and strength to find the love, the joy, and all the good that life has to offer. Remind me that my purpose is bigger than myself and keep me on the path to building a more compassionate world. Amen.
