Priorities

What are my top 3 priorities this week? Do I need to make any shifts so these priorities encompass my whole self?

Mindfulness

Dawn Smart uses a “5-3-1-1” exercise from the meditation book “The Monkey Is the Messenger”: Take five deep breaths, think of three things you’re grateful for, grin really big one time and set one intention for the day.

“I try to remember to do it in the morning … but it doesn’t always happen that way. I’m pretty forgiving of myself,” Smart said. Sometimes she’ll fit it in before going to bed or while in the car. It helps that “it’s easy, it’s short, it’s [memorable].”

Smart also draws inspiration from the site grateful.org, a project founded by David Steindl-Rast that shares daily gratitude practices, among other resources.  – Sarah-Mae McCullough

Intentions

Regularly remind yourself of your intentions, advises Sylvia Boorstein. It’s the key to keeping your life on target. Recite your intentions every morning and they will guide your day. You and everyone you encounter will benefit. – Sylvia Boorstein

Hit Refresh

So, let’s tackle the rest of this year with finesse! Here’s how:

Reflect and assess your goals: Have you made progress, or is it time to set some fresh new intentions? I tend to ask myself “Am I going about this all wrong? Is there a better, easier, less stressful way?”. Give yourself permission to refine or pivot

Realign with your priorities: Are you the same person you were back in January? Take stock of the ways you’ve changed and what truly matters to you now. And hey, if something isn’t serving you anymore, it’s time to wave goodbye .

Take baby steps and ditch the rush: Big goals can feel overwhelming, but remember that every mountain is climbed one step at a time! Break them down into bite-sized action items and be kind to yourself. Remember, slow and steady wins the race

Embrace self-care like it’s your job: Yes, you have dreams to chase, but friend, your well-being is non-negotiable. Take a moment today for some serious “ahhhhh” time. A steamy bath or a cozy blanket cocoon, anyone? Always remember that your physical and mental well-being are the foundations on which your success is built.

Rally your support squad: There’s nothing quite like having people in your life who just get it and is your ultimate grace giving cheerleaders. Whether it’s family, friends, or even your fellow Black Girl Doctor coaches, lean on them for that extra boost of encouragement. Don’t let the remaining months slip away without taking intentional pause as you reflect on your goals. Let’s make this mid-year reset an opportunity for transformation, empowerment, and the manifestation of our audacious dreams.

Question of the day

When’s the best time to trust our instincts?
